1. First, check which switch actually tripped

2. The unplug and isolate method
Unplug every appliance on the affected circuit, at the wall, not just switched off. Reset the tripped switch once. If it holds, reconnect appliances one at a time, waiting a minute or two between each. When the trip repeats, the last appliance you connected is the likely culprit. Leave it unplugged and get it tested. 3. Ovens and cooktops
The classic: the oven trips the power the first time you use it after oven cleaning. 6. Air conditioners and pool equipment
Outdoor units live in the weather, so moisture in terminals and connections is a common leak path. Aircon also draws a big gulp of current at start-up, which can trip a breaker on an already-loaded circuit even when nothing is faulty. 7. Hot water systems
The mystery trip that happens overnight is often the electric hot water system, because many run on a controlled load circuit that only energises in off-peak hours.
