Every civil works job starts with a site assessment, so we can confirm ground conditions, existing services and the right scope before we confirm pricing. Reach out today and we will talk you through what your project needs.
Civil works covers the ground work for an underground electrical connection: trenching to the correct depth, excavation for pits and pillars, pit and duct installation, potholing and non destructive digging to locate existing services, and reinstatement of the surface afterward. It is separate from the electrical connection itself, which covers cabling, jointing, testing and switching.
Potholing and NDD expose the exact position of gas, water, telecommunications and electrical services already in the ground, so we can trench and excavate close to them without causing damage. It is standard practice before trenching near existing infrastructure and keeps your project on the right side of AS/NZS 3000 and the NSW Service and Installation Rules.
Trench depth depends on the cable and the network authority involved, generally around 750 millimetres for HV network cable and 450 millimetres for LV, run to the alignment set out in the network design. We work to AS/NZS 3000 and the NSW Service and Installation Rules on every job.
We pothole to locate existing services, trench the route, then lay conduit and pits to the depth and spacing your project needs. Once the cable is pulled through we backfill in layers and reinstate the surface to match what was there before.
Either. We can deliver the civil scope on its own for a builder, civil contractor or another electrical contractor, or combine it with a full underground Level 1 ASP network connection, backed by our Level 2 ASP accreditation with Level 1 ASP accreditation underway.
Developers and builders preparing a site for network connection, civil contractors who need the electrical trenching scope done to standard, other electrical contractors who need civil support on a network cable job, and councils managing streetscape or undergrounding works.
Timeframes depend on trench length, ground conditions and how many pits and pillars are involved. Potholing and locating existing services can also affect the program, so an early site assessment helps us give you a realistic schedule.
