200A Overhead Supply Upgrades
Is an Overhead Supply Upgrade Right for Your Site?
Overhead connections are the most common supply method in Sydney. If your property already has an aerial cable from a street pole to your building, a 200A overhead upgrade is almost always the most cost-effective approach.
Contact US- Standard residential supply upgrades
- Commercial properties with existing overhead connection
- Sites where underground supply is not feasible or cost-effective
- Properties with a Point of Attachment on the building facade
- Sites requiring a private pole to support the overhead service
- Rural and semi-rural properties on the overhead network

What Does an Overhead Connection Mean?
Overhead service mains run from the network street pole (or a private pole on your property) via aerial cable to the Point of Attachment on your building. This is the most common connection method across Sydney, Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, and Essential Energy network areas.
Overhead connections are generally faster and more cost-effective to install than underground — but they require the correct pole height, clearances, and cable rated for the supply capacity. For a 200A overhead upgrade, the aerial cable, all terminations, and the Point of Attachment must all be correctly rated for the increased capacity. Where the existing pole height or cable span is insufficient, a private pole may be required to achieve the necessary clearances.

How a 200A Overhead Upgrade Works
From application to energisation — six clear steps, all managed by our team.
- Maximum Demand Calculation
We prepare a maximum demand calculation for your site — the technical assessment that forms the basis of your network application. This confirms 200A is the correct solution and ensures your application is accurate first time. - Network Application
We prepare and submit your supply upgrade application to your distributor (Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, or Essential Energy) — including your maximum demand calculation, site details, and proposed overhead supply configuration. - Network Assessment
The distributor confirms whether sufficient capacity exists in the local network to support the upgrade. Most overhead 200A upgrades proceed without requiring additional network construction. - Network Construction (If Required)
Where additional network capacity is needed, we coordinate Level 3 design and Level 1 ASP construction through our managed supply chain. You deal with one company throughout. - Level 2 Installation
Our Level 2 ASP team installs the complete overhead 200A system — service mains, consumer mains, private pole (where required), earthing, switchboard, and metering. NOSW lodged on completion. - Energisation
Your new 200A overhead supply is energised, tested, commissioned, and signed off. All compliance documentation issued — NOSW and CCEW.

FAQs
Answers to the questions we hear most from Sydney homeowners, builders, and site managers.
A 200A overhead supply upgrade replaces your existing aerial cable with new, correctly rated service mains run from the network street pole (or a private pole) to your Point of Attachment. The cable, terminations, and Point of Attachment must all be rated for the increased 200A capacity. This work can only be carried out by a Level 2 Accredited Service Provider.
Not always. If your existing Point of Attachment and street pole are suitable, a private pole may not be required. We assess this at the quoting stage and include a private pole in scope where site conditions require it — either timber or steel, correctly rated for 200A.
Once network approval is granted, a standard overhead installation is typically completed in a single day. Network applications with Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, or Essential Energy generally take several weeks to assess — we'll provide a realistic timeline at the quoting stage.
Yes. We manage all communication with Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, or Essential Energy — applications, approvals, outage coordination, and NOSW lodgement. You deal with us, not the distributor. This is one of the key advantages of working with a Level 2 ASP who specialises in supply upgrades.
A Level 2 Accredited Service Provider (ASP) is the only type of electrician licenced by the NSW network distributors to carry out connection works — including supply upgrades, service mains installations, metering, and private pole work. A standard electrician is not authorised to perform a 200A supply upgrade. All work must be carried out by a Level 2 ASP with current accreditation under the relevant distributor.
