FAQs

Licences & Accreditation: Frequently Asked Questions

Is High Demand Electrical a licensed electrical contractor?

Yes. High Demand Electrical (ENGNET PTY LTD) holds NSW contractor licence 397193C and is a Level 2 Accredited Service Provider. You can check the licence yourself on the NSW Government licence check at verify.licence.nsw.gov.au.

What is a Level 2 Accredited Service Provider?

A Level 2 ASP is a business accredited under the NSW Government's Accredited Service Provider (ASP) Scheme to work on the connection between the electricity network and a property – for example, disconnecting and reconnecting supply, installing or upgrading overhead and underground service mains, and metering work. Level 1 ASPs build network infrastructure, and Level 3 ASPs design it.

What is the difference between an electrician's licence and a contractor licence?

In NSW, a contractor licence allows a business or person to contract for, advertise and sell electrical wiring work. A Qualified Supervisor Certificate (or an endorsed contractor licence) is the individual credential that allows an electrician to carry out and supervise the work. A contracting business must have appropriately qualified people doing or supervising its electrical work – one credential doesn't replace the other.

Why should I choose a licensed electrical contractor?

Electrical wiring work in NSW must be done by appropriately licensed people. Using a licensed contractor means the work is done to the required standards, tested before it's handed over, and backed by the compliance documentation you may need for insurance, strata, sale or rental purposes.

Are electrical licences and certifications regularly renewed?

Yes. NSW contractor licences and qualified supervisor certificates are issued for a fixed term and must be renewed before they expire. ASP accreditation also has ongoing conditions, and ASP workers need current network authorisations and safety training. We keep our credentials current and update this page when they change.

What qualifications are required for Level 2 electrical work?

Level 2 work must be carried out through an accredited Level 2 ASP, by individuals who hold the relevant NSW electrical licence plus the specific competencies, safety training and network operator authorisations required for each class of Level 2 work. Find out more on our Level 2 electrician page.
